主治
"Externally-contracted wind-cold marked by sweating, aversion to wind, headache, fever, sniffling, dry heaves, a white tongue coating without thirst, and a floating and lax or floating and weak pulse; as well as miscellaneous diseases, convalescence, pregnancy, or postpartum conditions presenting with occasional fever, spontaneous sweating, and mild aversion to wind, which are attributed to a disharmony between the Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) Qi. Modern applications include the common cold and influenza presenting with the aforementioned symptoms.
用法
[One] must not allow the sweat to flow profusely like water, otherwise the disease will certainly not be cured. If after one dose, sweat emerges and the condition resolves, stop the subsequent doses; there is no need to finish the entire batch. If no sweat emerges, take another dose following the previous method. If still no sweat emerges, slightly shorten the interval between doses, finishing all three doses within approximately half a day. If the illness is severe, administer the decoction throughout the day and night, observing the patient over a full 24-hour cycle. If, after finishing one full batch, the disease pattern remains, prepare and administer another. If sweat does not emerge, one may administer up to two or three batches.

Dietary contraindications include: raw and cold, sticky and slippery, meat and wheat products, the five acrids, alcohol and dairy, as well as foul-smelling foods.
禁忌
禁生冷、粘滑、肉面、五辛、酒酪、恶臭等物。若其人脉浮紧,发热汗不出者,不可与之。若酒客病,不可与桂枝汤;桂枝下咽,阳盛则毙。
